About Me

Hey everyone! My name is Zubair Azizi, and this is my second year joining the MSS! I am truly excited to be your VP Internal for the 2026-2027 academic year.

Last year as VP Academic, I learned a lot about the McMaster Science Society and how it improves student life through its academic support services, partnerships with businesses in the community, and student wellness initiatives. This year, my mission is to support the delivery and improvement of various academic services students have been using for years. Primarily, my team and I will work to review policies and introduce new ones as needed, foster strong connections with faculty members and program societies, and instill a culture of accountability making the MSS adaptive to changing student needs.

I'm always on campus! You can most likely find me sitting in Mills, watching lectures on 2x speed, or during my office hours on Wednesday mornings in BSB B108. If you'd like to chat, just make sure to bring the coffee!

Goals

1. Establish a tradition of collaboration and interdependence with program societies

2. Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and leadership on the science society

3. Make changes to promote smoother transitions for executives moving into/out of roles

Projects

1. Introduce a new hiring system, maintaining applicant anonymity, ensuring an overall equitable process

2. Introducing an incentive based system, simultaneously improving collaborations with program societies and event turnout

3. Re-introducing the scholarships program, awarding students for exemplary commitment to their community
