Mentorship

Are you a first year Science student? Do you have questions, are looking for support, or need help accessing resources on campus? If you answered “YES!” Consider signing up for our MSS First-Year Mentorship Program. This program is a FREE service for first years in the Faculty of Science that strives to make the transition into university easier by providing academic and social resources, as well as upper-year support.

Sign up occurs throughout the summer and into September, as well as in January. After sign-up, you will be matched with an upper year science mentor who will reach out to you online every month. They will send you out a curated resource sheet and discussing topics such as: “How to create a perfect schedule?”, “How to succeed on midterms and exams”, “Places to explore in Hamilton”, “Upper year housing” and much more!

How does it work?

Our fantastic mentor team is comprised of Sciclones, MSS Exec, and previous mentors. They have plenty of wide-ranging experience, and our goal is to create long-lasting connections by matching mentors and mentees based on shared interests! Our hope is that first year students always feel as though they have somewhere to turn, and that these connections will prove to be valuable and long-lasting.
