About Me

Hello MacSci! My name is Maria Ruggero, I am a third year chemical biology student and I am very excited to be this year's mentorship coordinator. I started off as a mentee in my first year and then a mentor in my second year, so I can personally speak to how great the mentorship program is. I am excited to now lead the first-year mentorship program and continue to grow with it. I hope to provide the same knowledge and resources that the program was able to provide me in my transition into university. I anticipate a great year ahead and encourage any first years to reach out to become mentees this year. The program can help take away some of the stress as you navigate the next chapter in your academic careers. Feel free to say hi if you ever see me around campus. I am normally in one of the libraries till very late hours or in the outrageously long Starbucks line.

Goals

1. Increase in person engagement of the program through events.
2.
Increase community between mentors to better help support the mentees.
3.
Continue to grow the program to reach more of the first-year class.

Projects

1. Increase in-person event attendance through creating more engaging bi-semesterly events that mentees and mentors can both look forward to.
2.
Create a platform where mentors can provide support to each other and have opportunities to reach out to the community and find mentors with specific knowledge to help their mentees.
3.
Create useful resource sheets that provide real advice and resources that mentees can utilize and look back on.
