About Me

Hello! My name is Lauren and this is my first year on the MSS executive team. I am so excited to be representing the Faculty of Science students as the Academic Advocacy Advisor. My job is to advocate for any change you want to see in terms of academics, relay information to the Dean and Associate Dean of Science, and coordinate exciting, academically-centred events throughout the semester. I am also the one organizing several surveys throughout the school year to get any feedback you want to share with the Faculty. Keep an eye out for those, and know that your opinion matters and your voice is important! Outside of the MSS, I love staying active and going to the gym, hanging out with friends, listening to music, and baking. I am also super passionate about science and my program, so you will often find me on campus studying in Thode, or in The Pulse! Should you have any questions, concerns, or comments about academics in the Faculty of Science, the best way to reach me is by email.

Goals

1. Increase outreach and feedback integration from student surveys into course structure and content.
2.
Reduce barriers between students and faculty members by improving transparency regarding academia and the student experience.
3.
Increase availability of academic resources to all students - particularly transition resources for first-years, and specialization selection supports for second-years.

Projects

1. Update the student experience surveys to include sections on diversity, representation, and relevance of course material.
2.
Publish survey results and present in a comprehensible data report summarizing student feedback to MSS surveys.
3.
Hosting the Academic Roundtable event to encourage two-way communication and the formation of connections between faculty and students regarding academics.
