About Me

Hi! My name is Shirley and I am the Academic Advocacy Coordinator! This is my first year on MSS and I’m super excited to be part of such a hard-working and dedicated team! I love advocating for the needs of students and representing the student voice. My goal this year is to address the academic concerns of students across all levels and programs in the Faculty of Science. I hope to gather student feedback and present the findings to faculty members to create targeted solutions that address academic concerns. Whether it’s connecting with students by providing resources for program selection, or sharing the student perspective on policy changes, I hope to advocate for your academic needs!

You’ll most likely find me at Mills trying to pass time between my 6 hour gaps between classes (commuter life). Feel free to say hi, I’m super excited to meet everyone!

Goals

1. Gather student feedback and data regarding courses, policies, academic needs, and supporting resources

2. Present student feedback to members of the Faculty of Science and collaboratively create solutions to help address concerns

3. Share resources with students to help them succeed in their career goals and academic journey

Projects

1. Gather student feedback data through the 2026 Winter Survey and Annual Student Census

2. Collaborate with members of the faculty of science to evaluate existing academic support systems to create plans for improvement

2. Transform the Sciclopedia event into a series of mentorship videos
